Kieser: Strengthening the Health of More Australians
As awareness of the importance of strength for health and longevity continues to grow, Kieser is prepared to lead the way. Just 5% of Australians over 50 undertake evidence-based strength training and Kieser is working hard to increase this number.
Through 2024 our research team has shown training at Kieser results in a statistically significant reduction in pain, improvement in function and quality of life and avoidance of unnecessary surgery and other interventions. With a focus on member outcomes at the core of Kieser’s model of clinical efficacy, we are excited about the next chapter.
Building a stronger Australia
In 2024, Kieser Australia extended our network of clinics, with new locations including Spotswood (VIC), Coorparoo (QLD), and Kingston (ACT) — our first clinic in the nation’s capital. This growth ensures that more Australians can access Kieser’s unique blend of physiotherapy and strength training.
The expansion of its clinic network, the addition of new leadership expertise, and innovative partnerships have set the stage for an even brighter future.
“Expanding our reach means bringing better health and strength to more communities across Australia,” said Brett Long, CEO of Kieser Australia. “We’re not just growing; we’re evolving to meet the needs of our clients, ensuring every new clinic upholds the exceptional standards that Kieser is known for.”
To accommodate increasing demand, Kieser also invested in upgrading existing clinics and adding new space and machines to meet growing demand. In cases where renovations were not feasible, Kieser established new clinics, including those in Collingwood (formerly Fitzroy) and Torquay.
“These developments represent our unwavering dedication to providing accessible and high-quality services for our members,” said Gary Harley, Founder of Kieser Australia. “Every new clinic and every upgrade is a step toward achieving our mission of improving the health of all Australians, regardless of age or condition.”
Strengthening Leadership
This transformative year also saw the addition of three highly credentialled professionals to the board of Kieser Australia:
- Tony Johnson, a leader with extensive experience across health, financial services, and professional services, and current Chair of the Bupa ANZ board.
- Jacinta Caithness, a seasoned executive in the retail industry, who inspired the Kieser team with a masterclass on service excellence in October.
- Mark Valena, former CEO of GMHBA Limited, brings expertise in strategy, capital management, and healthcare leadership.
“These new board members bring invaluable insights that will help us navigate our next phase of growth,” said Harley. “Their expertise ensures we stay innovative while remaining true to our core values.”
Partnering for improved health
In 2024, Kieser forged partnerships with over 25 health funds to offer fully funded strength and conditioning programs for eligible health fund members at risk of surgery due to spinal conditions and hip and knee osteoarthritis. These programs provide conservative alternatives to surgery, empowering clients to achieve quality health outcomes.
“These partnerships are a testament to the effectiveness of our programs and research insights,” said Long. “We’re proud to collaborate with health funds to deliver evidence-based solutions that improve lives.”
Looking ahead to 2025
Plans for 2025 include opening clinics in up to five states, expanding access to Kieser and creating employment opportunities for new communities. Enhancing client experiences through investments in technology, including the Kieser Konnect App are also on the horizon.
“As always we are focussed on exceeding clients' expectations when it comes to their health goals and improving their lives. A priority over the next 2 years is making Kieser accessible to even more Australians. During this period we are excited to be opening Kieser clinics in population corridors we currently don’t service including; Bendigo, Launceston, Rosebud, Glenelg, Brisbane West, Newcastle, Berwick and Burleigh” said Long.
Reflecting on the year, Long expressed gratitude to Kieser’s loyal members. “None of this would be possible without our incredible community of members, teams and partners,” he said. “Together, we’re creating something truly special. Here’s to another year of improvements in strength, health and longevity.”
