Supporting Stroke Prevention: Kieser Joins Australia’s Biggest Blood Pressure Check Campaign
This May, Kieser is proud to partner with the Stroke Foundation as a Supporting Sponsor of Australia’s Biggest Blood Pressure Check 2025.
High blood pressure (hypertension) is a major risk factor for stroke and often has no symptoms. Did you know that in 2022, over 3 million people - around 11.6% of the population—reported having high blood pressure (ABS 2022)? And of those people, over 75% didn’t know they had it. Which is why we’re supporting this national campaign—to help Australians understand dangers of high blood pressure and how we can take simple steps to manage it.
Why Regular Blood Pressure Checks Are Important
-
High blood pressure is often called a ‘silent killer’ because it usually has no symptoms, but can cause serious harm to your heart, kidneys, and brain if not detected and managed.
-
A simple blood pressure check is one of the easiest and quickest ways to spot potential risks early.
-
Knowing your blood pressure numbers helps you understand your risk, make healthier choices and act before problems develop.
How is Kieser supporting this campaign?
1) Free Blood Pressure Checks at selected clinics
Selected Kieser clinics across Australia will offer FREE blood pressure checks with an Exercise Physiologist for people new to Kieser from 5 – 16 May. We will share your results with you during the appointment and provide guidance on what to do next based on your blood pressure numbers.
2) Support From Our Qualified, Exercise Physiologists
If your blood pressure is elevated or you’re at increased risk, our Exercise Physiologists can provide you with support on the day. This support may include:
-
Providing you with information about the risk factors for high blood pressure and the role of physical activity in stroke prevention and long-term health
-
A referral for 1-on-1 Exercise Physiology consultation to provide you with a tailored exercise program to help reduce your blood pressure
-
A recommendation to see your GP or primary health care provider for further investigation if hypertension, or risk of hypertension is evident
Why Exercise Is Important to Help Manage High Blood Pressure
Regular physical activity is one of the most effective ways to manage and lower high blood pressure. It helps your heart pump blood more efficiently, reducing the strain on your blood vessels and lowering your blood pressure. Even small amounts of daily exercise, like walking or strength training, can make a significant difference.
Engaging in consistent exercise not only helps control blood pressure but also contributes to overall heart health and well-being. By incorporating regular movement into your routine, you take proactive steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
