Pain can inhibit muscle activity no matter what the cause, so our Melbourne physiotherapists are fully qualitifed to treat a wide variety of physical conditions in our fitness and rehabilitation facilities including spinal conditions, pre/post surgery, peripheral injuries/ pain (shoulders, knees, hips, ankles, etc.), scoliosis and many more. 

All our clients begin their journey with an initial consultation with one of our Melbourne Physiotherapists or Exercise Physiologists, who will prepare a comprehensive treatment plan to reduce any muscle aches and joint pains and start the process of reconditioning. After the initial physiotherapy treatment phase, you will be introduced to one of our Exercise Scientists who will develop a customised training program.

Kieser Collins Street is located on King Street near the corner of Collins Street. Kieser is located 100m from the Southern Cross tram stop for trams 11, 12, 48 and 109 and is located 350m from Southern Cross station. 

FAQs for your initial assessment at Kieser

What happens at your initial assessment? 

  • When you first arrive for your initial assessment, you will be greeted by our reception team.
  • You will have received a patient information form to complete online. If you do not complete the form online, please arrive 10 minutes early.
  • Next, your physiotherapist will come out to greet you and show you around our state-of-the-art facility.
  • During your initial assessment, your physiotherapist will thoroughly assess your condition and medical history.
  • If appropriate, your physio will also conduct a back strength test on our Lumbar Extension machine. This test will objectively measure the strength of your lower back muscles and provide a benchmark for your treatment.
  • Finally, your physio will provide you with a treatment plan for your condition.

What should I wear to my initial assessment and when training?

Want to know what you should wear when you visit our clinic? Here is what you need to know:

  • Wear comfortable clothes that you can move freely in.
  • Please don’t wear denim pants or singlets when training in the clinic.
  • Your shoes must be enclosed (no thongs, for example). We recommend wearing runners.
  • We have change rooms with free lockers if you need to change or store anything during your sessions.

Do I need a referral to see a Physiotherapist? 

No, you don’t need a referral from a medical practitioner to see a Physiotherapist. If your specialist has provided you with a referral with specific information, please bring it to your appointment.

Kieser Collins Street accepts Chronic Disease Management Plan referrals from General Practitioners along with referrals from WorkSafe, TAC, NDIS and the Department of Veterans Affairs.


Is there anything else I should bring with me?

If you have x-rays or scans that may be relevant to your treatment, please bring those with you. We accept private health rebates on all Physiotherapy sessions, so make sure to bring your private health insurance card as we require full payment at the end of your appointment.
