The Kieser Hip & Knee Osteoarthritis Program

The Kieser Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis Program has been developed to help clients improve their condition in a safe and supervised environment. The 12-week program includes a Physiotherapy assessment and treatment, Exercise Physiologist/Scientist supervised exercise sessions an iIndependent strengthening program on Kieser equipment and an education program

Clients need a referral from a general practitioner to access the program. Eligility for the program includes a primary diagnosis of hip or knee OA, pain of 4/10 or higher over the last month and clients must be considered to be a candidate for hip or knee joint replacement surgery in the next three years.

What does the program cost?
Peoplecare will cover the full cost of the program for eligible members.

Do I need to see a surgeon?
No, as long as you meet the inclusion criteria

Do I need a medical referral for the program?
Yes, you will need a referral from a general practitioner to access the program

When can members access the program?
Peoplecare will fully fund the program for eligible members who commence prior to 1st June 2024. The program may also be extended beyond this date.

Peoplecare Member Eligibility

To be eligible you need to have had a Peoplecare premium hospital product for 2 months or longer. You must have had an active Peoplecare policy at the commencement of the pilot (1 June, 2022).

  • Primary diagnosis of hip or knee OA, evident on plain x-ray.
  • Pain of 4/10 or higher over the last month.

  • Considered to be a candidate for hip or knee joint replacement surgery in the next three years.
