The Kieser Hip & Knee Osteoarthritis Program

The Kieser Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis Program has been developed to help clients improve their condition in a safe and supervised environment. The 12-week program includes a Physiotherapy assessment and treatment, Exercise Physiologist/Scientist supervised exercise sessions an independent strengthening program on Kieser equipment and an education program.

Clients need a referral from a general practitioner to access the program. Eligibility for the program includes a primary diagnosis of hip or knee OA, pain of 4/10 or higher over the last month and clients must be considered to be a candidate for hip or knee joint replacement surgery in the next three years.

What does the program cost?
St.LukesHealth will cover the full cost of the programs for eligible members.

Do I need a referral for the program?
Yes, you will need a referral from a general practitioner or surgeon to access the programs.

When can members access the program?
St.LukesHealth will fully fund the programs for eligible members who commence prior to 1st July 2024. The programs may also be extended beyond this date.

St.LukesHealth Member Eligibility

To be eligible for the pilot program you need to hold Hospital cover with St.LukesHealth which includes the joint replacement clinical category. You must be a St.LukesHealth member for at least 12 months before entry into the program.

  • Primary diagnosis of hip or knee OA, evident on plain x-ray.

  • Pain of 4/10 or higher over the last month

  • Considered to be a candidate for hip or knee joint replacement surgery in the next three years

  • The absence of any exclusion criteria
