I Kieser to Keep my Back Strong

Carolyn's neurosurgeon recommended Kieser to help her manage her back pain. With weekly Assisted Training sessions and recent Tele-training sessions, Carolyn has been able to lose weight and reduce her back pain. Here is her story:

"After years of work bending over clients (I’m a beautician...  well should say I was a beautician!!) my back was terrible. If I sat for any period of time, bent over, even went on long walks, etc. it was hell.

I had seen my GP many times mainly for bladder problems then one day I mentioned my back. She recommended that I have a series of x-rays, and go and see a neurosurgeon. After viewing everything and having a long chat the neurosurgeon said “Go to Kieser, lose weight and see me in three months.”  I dutifully went overseas for three months with Voltaren in bucketfulls in my hand luggage (and my husband!!).  Being such a ‘good patient’ I did not lose weight or go to Kieser! As soon as I got back I postponed my appointment and then did what I was told.

The team at Kieser Geelong had a close look at my medical history, set me a program and explained it and off I went. I began training regularly twice a week and found I am much better having regular weekly assisted training sessions. They keep me on track, doing the exercises correctly, stop me wanting to increase the weights just because I can and I like the banter with the staff! 

I’ve attended the balance classes and loved them. I’ve attended the weight loss program but as I know everything I should be doing re weight loss (and they did not offer to sew my lips together!), I’m a failure! I eat for all reasons, happy, sad, angry, frustrated, tired etc… and I love all food - good and junk!

Since the Coronavirus, I decided to take up Kieser’s offer of Assisted Training at home via Zoom. Michael has been working me hard… well on some of the exercises. I really enjoy my sessions and I feel fantastic as I ‘do’ my workout regularly three times a week. I have learned so much and try to implement it into my everyday life.

I’m using this time in isolation to lose weight and get my fitness back. My Kieser workouts are an added bonus to my walking and bike riding, which had become a complete no-show before I went to Kieser. I do hope to resume golf when we are allowed. 

In summary it is now over three years since my visit to the neurosurgeon and after postponing two more appointments I’ve cancelled them all. I have packets of Volaren sitting in the cupboard going passed their expiry date!!  I just never have to use them. 

I’m feeling so much better. The staff at the clinic are all so friendly and encouraging. I‘m looking forward to go back. I still have problems with my back but I now know how to manage it before it goes too bad. After watching the Kieser Webinar on pelvic floor a few weeks ago I’ve been inspired and although my bladder is still lousy, I know one day I’ll get that ball moving along the pattern on the A5 machine!!
